Project overview
The new guided transportation system meets two needs: to create a connection between the narrow-gauge network of the Calabria Railways serving the inland part of the region and the Italian State Railways along the Tyrrhenian coast, and to provide a new transportation system for an agglomeration of about 250,000 inhabitants.
The project consists of a new tramway line that runs about 21 km, is fully electrified and includes 40 stops, commercial speed of 20-22 km/h, maximum frequency of 8 passes/hour, 3 stations (University of Calabria used by 40,000 people per day, Cosenza Centro and Cosenza Vaglio-Lise) and the rolling stock depot with related connection.
